Team Building Workshops

What is Drum Jam's Team Beat Drumming?

A group of people sitting or standing in a circle playing drums and world percussion instruments.

A Professional facilitator leads the group from the centre of the circle, allowing the participants to relax and let go. Everyone is part of the performance; there is no audience. Numbers are unlimited, we can work with groups of 5 to 5000. The emphasis is on working together effectively as a Team to create music.

What does drumming have to do with Teams?

Drumming has been used for centuries to inspire people to achieve outstanding results. If you look at drumming in the context of the military, where teamwork is essential, it has for many centuries been the drummers that have been the bond for the soldiers going to battle. Drumming not only can inspire you but also be an effective way to bond the team to create a positive result. It is only when everyone in the team is working together, listening, giving, being attentive, using their instrument to the best of their ability will the group be able to achieve the ultimate experience which is "being in the groove", something that is not easily put into words.

Once the team achieves this cohesiveness with the help of an expert facilitator, who's job it is to bring out the potential of the group, then then fun and enjoyment of the state of teamwork really comes into effect and nothing is impossible for a group of people working to the same beat. In time and rhythm with each other and the enviroment in which they operate.

Using drums and percussion is the perfect metaphor for effective teamwork that happens in a corporation.Just as each instrument in the percussion group needs to be operated at its peak effectiveness in order for the team to create the ultimate result, so does each person in a Corporation need to do his job to the best of his/her ability in order for the team to produce the results for the company.

Just as in a corporation with a director, so in a percussion group the facilitator's job is to inspire, guide and be accountable for overall result of the percussion group and the music.

Drumming is the most fundamental group activity for celebrating success, unity or relaxing. Interactive drumming is a cutting edge psychological tool used effectively in the corporate environment for stress release, group bonding, team building, synchronising of thought processes and breaking down of racial, cultural, gender and age barriers. Drumming is Relaxation; the ultimate De-stressor and energiser at a conference or training course. Participating in a drumcircle is a relaxing experience for the heart, mind and body.

A drumcircle creates sub-sonic vibrations that influence the harmonious alignment of our physical cells, emotional states, and thereby our spirits. Cultures throughout the world have used the ageless forces of rhythm to affect change.

"And it is also a wonderful stress reliever and helps to rid us of addictions. As well as an enhanced sense of well being, participants are also said to experience improved concentration, feelings of self-esteem and are better able to communicate." Gloucester news, Sue Rushton

How Long is a Drum Jam Team Beat Event?

Hour Long Events
A room is set-up with a circle of chairs or concentric circles, depending on the number of participants. Every person is given a drum or a percussion instrument. A facilitator leads the group to experience their greatest potential as a Team by using facilitation games, group leadership and orchestration skills.

Daylong Events
Participants are divided into teams. Each team is taught how to create a musical piece. Each team then uses their new skills to perform the piece in front of the other teams. Each team can also develop leadership skills by teaching their musical piece to the other teams. Customisation Each workshop is customized according to your Companies specific needs. The importance of your staff working as a team is highlighted throughout the session. All events are designed for the Novice musician, even if you've never touched a drum before.
